Morning Advanced Management & Supervisory Leadership Training Program (EDUCATION & TRAINING SERVICES - PUBLIC UTILITIES & WATERWORKS MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE)
The Advanced Course is a series of skill-building days designed to help understand management’s changing role in today’s business climate. Leadership principles and challenges will be discussed; individual and team exercises will support specific skill training; discussions of the future of management and organizations will be central to the learning experience.
The four-week course includes:
SECTION 1: EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE: The basis for Leadership. Developing the awareness of the role of emotions in Leadership. How to harness E.I. for employee engagement. (January 4-8)
SECTION 2: ETHICS FOR LEADERSHIP: We will not willingly follow a dishonest leader. How to develop a personal ethical perspective and example. How to develop this capacity in others. (January 11-15)
SECTION 3: LEADERSHIP: The practice of leadership, the behaviors of leaders that make a difference in the impact and productivity of their organizations. A closer look at the effect of example, recognition and interpersonal skills on organizational results. (January 19-22 – skipping Martin Luther King Day)
SECTION 4: DECISION MAKING: Develop the capacity to think critically, and engage others to achieve successful execution of critical decisions. Will include parallel thinking and lateral thinking methods. (January 25-28)
