IDOT Phase 1 Course
PURPOSE: To develop a better understanding of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Phase 1 process.
TOPICS COVERED: Developing a transportation project’s purpose and need, roles and responsibilities of local, state, and federal agencies, environmental studies conducted through the Environmental Survey Request process, analyzing and incorporating necessary engineering and environmental findings, and differences among Categorical Exclusions (CE), Environmental Assessments (EA), and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
