This class is for responders that are officers, managers or anyone who may serve in the role of incident commander at an emergency scene.

Topics Include:

● ICS Fundamentals Review

● Unified Command

● Incident/Event Assessment and Agency Guidance in Establishing Incident Objectives

● Planning Process

● Incident Resource Management

● Demobilization, Transfer of Command, and Closeout

● Course Exercise on IAP Development

 

Course Objectives:

● Describe how the NIMS Command and Management component supports the management of expanding incidents.

● Describe the incident/event management process for supervisors and expanding incidents as prescribed by the Incident Command System (ICS).

● Implement the incident management process on a simulated expanding incident.

● Develop an Incident Action Plan for a simulated incident.

 

This course is tailored to volunteer departments that cannot attend these classes during the normal work day.

The class will allow the participant to practice skills with an exercise designed for a local community.

Attendees will receive an IS 300 Certificate issued by IEMA. Pre-requesties include IS 700, 100 and 200 – available at:  https://emilms.fema.gov/is_0700b/curriculum/1.html.

FEMA IS 300 Overview:

This 3-day course is designed for those emergency response personnel who would function in a Command or General Staff position during a large, complex incident or event, or personnel who are or would likely be part of a local or regional Incident Management Team during a major incident, whether single agency, multiagency or Unified Command.
