GRS-IBS Webinar

Attached please find an invitation for a webinar on March 21, 2019 entitled “GRS-IBS: Solutions to Bridge Construction Challenges”.  Promotion of GRS-IBS foundations has been an FHWA Every Day Counts Initiative since about 2010.

 

You are welcome to attend, and please be aware the Department issued BLRS CL 2011-05 on March 31, 2011 to address guidelines for the use of this design.  Link at  http://www.idot.illinois.gov/Assets/uploads/files/Transportation-System/Directories/Bulletins-&-Circulars/Bureau-of-Local-Roads-and-Streets/Circular-Letters/Informational/CL2011-05.pdf.  We are aware of one GRS-IBS foundation constructed in Illinois, a grade separation pedestrian structure over a roadway completed in 2012.  We understand there was a cost overrun on that foundation, but expect technology may have improved since then.  We are not aware at this time of any other “GRS-IBS” structures being constructed in Illinois.
